With spring shows raising their curtains on the Great White Way, Broadway.com readers recently named Ricky Martin, Jeremy Jordan and Raúl Esparza the leading men they're most excited to see this season. So it was only fair that Broadway.com then ask which leading lady audiences are most looking forward to catching perform! The results are in, and three beautiful singers from musicals topped the list. Take a look at the results below!
1. Caissie Levy (Ghost) – 29%
Caissie Levy has led a wide variety of shows ranging from the hippie musical Hair to the blockbuster hit Wicked. Across the pond, Levy originated the role Molly Jensen in the new musical Ghost. Now, Levy steps behind the pottery wheel again as she brings Ghost to Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where the show opens April 23.
2. Kelli O’Hara (Nice Work If You Can Get It) – 24%
Broadway darling Kelli O’Hara has been nominated for three Tony Awards for her work in The Light in the Piazza, The Pajama Game and South Pacific. Her latest Broadway venture is playing bootlegger Billie Bendix opposite Matthew Broderick in the new Gershwin musical Nice Work if You Can Get It. The musical begins previews March 29 at the Imperial Theatre, with opening night to follow on April 24.
3. Elena Roger (Evita) – 11%
Argentine import Elena Roger is making her Broadway debut as Eva Peron in the first ever Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita. Roger first played the role in Michael Grandage’s 2006 London production of the musical, and now the Olivier Award winner is bringing “a little touch of star quality” to the Marquis Theatre. Evita opens on April 5.
